See this girl? Do you see the joy in her face? That’s me almost 30 years ago. Ever since I was about 7 years old, I have loved the game of soccer. Some of my most vivid memories are on the soccer field. Sitting under a tent (before easy up’s were a thing) with my team eating ice pops in the heat, chanting cadences around the field (we are High Point, mighty mighty High Point), painting black under our eyes to look tough😂. Through boyfriends and breakups, breakouts and bruises, babies and breastfeeding, this game has been my joy, my companion and my solace. It’s hard to explain, but I feel free when I play.
A few years ago, I had just about decided to hang up my cleats. I was getting headaches that kept me up, sick through the night. They seemed to cluster around my soccer games. I went to several doctors.
Blood work-normal, brain scan- normal, blood pressure-normal. In my heart I knew it was NOT normal to be sick for hours after a game. It was not normal for all of my joints to ache all the time.
Finally, I found a medical professional that LISTENED to me. Within an hour, she advised me to cut out wheat, dairy and sugar for 2 weeks and see how I felt. Within days, I felt better. No headaches and my achy joints were better. I didn’t need Advil several times a day anymore.
This is what started my wellness journey. From that one visit, I did my own research and started to realize how my diet was affecting my life. We switched over to mostly organic produce, cut our wheat consumption and minimized our sugar. From there, it was a small jump to start to find the toxins in the everyday products I was using. Formaldehyde in baby wipes!⁉️
Now, my home is largely toxin free. We use Young Living essential oils for everything from air fresheners to pest management. We use oil infused soaps, shampoos, body washes and toothpaste. Our laundry, dish and household cleaners are plant based and toxin free.
Here’s the thing, you aren’t meant to feel old at 35…or 40…or 45. Your body may have a lot of miles on it but your body was made for self repair. When you remove the toxins and nourish your body, you pave the way for self-healing. Please follow along to learn more about how we use oils everyday.
